Listening To Your Own Rhythm
“Listening to your own
rhythm in a loud world
is a radical act of self-love.”
In a world that moves fast, talks loud, and expects constant output, choosing to slow down and listen to your own rhythm is more than just self-care…it’s a quiet rebellion. It’s a gentle, daily decision to say: I matter. This week, I’m reminding myself, and maybe you need the reminder too, to honor your energy. Rest when you need. Create when you’re lit up. Pause when things feel too noisy. Listening to yourself isn’t laziness. It’s power.
Here are two simple practices that help me stay in tune with my rhythm, especially when the world around me feels like it’s running on a completely different frequency:
1. Flexible Time Blocks:
Instead of trying to force my day into a perfect schedule, I block my time into types of energy:
• Work time
• Creative time
• Rest time
• Chore time
Then I let myself move things around based on how I’m feeling. If my brain is scattered, I might start with a creative task instead of pushing through work taks. If my body feels heavy, I build in extra rest and let the laundry wait. This gives me structure without rigidity…something that works well with my ADHD brain.
2. Morning Check Ins:
Each morning, I take a quiet moment to ask myself: “What does my mind and body need today?” Sometimes the answer is focus. Sometimes it’s connection. Sometimes it’s just space to be. Naming it helps me move through the day with intention, instead of letting the day drag me around.
You don’t have to be everything to everyone this week. You don’t have to keep up with anyone’s pace but your own. Protect your peace. Honor your energy. That quiet rebellion? It’s how you come home to yourself.
